miRNA Genes
Refers to particular genes which code-for the production of specific micro-RNAs (miRNA) instead of coding-for the production of specific proteins as most genes do. For example, the miR-21 gene (an miRNA gene) is not expressed correctly (e.g., due to mutations at miRNA-coding loci, epigenetic silencing, deletions, or amplifications, etc.) in many different cancers.
