About The Author
RNase 1
An enzyme which is coded-for by a RNase 1 gene (located in "chromosome 1" of the human genome) that has been shown to be associated with an inherited form of prostate cancer in some human families.

The RNase 1 enzyme protects certain cells from viral infections (by triggering apoptosis-- cell death), so absence of RNase 1 (e.g. via mutation of its gene, the inactivation of RNase 1, etc.) tends to predispose such individuals (due to that SNP) to prostate cancer.
